Inspiration
I was heavily inspired by the 2008 indie game OFF by Mortis Ghost and the 2012 psychological horror game Ib by kouri, as I hadn't played any sort of games that had simple art but an eerie and disturbing atmosphere. I admired the limited color palettes and designs of the strange worlds in both games, so I wanted to create a similar feeling with my own game as my midterm project for Intro to Programming for Games in spring of 2019. Deeply inspired by the Mother Mother album O My Heart, the song Body in particular, I wanted to make an RPG style game where the player must collect their body parts from different areas with strange characters, and solve puzzles involving what senses they currently have. However, that was incredibly ambitious for a short amount of time, and the game had to be coded in Processing, so I decided to instead create a more simple game that was in the spirit of the original idea.





Gameplay
Gameplay is focused on player choice and is an existential work. B O D Y begins as the player discovers they have fallen apart and must put themselves back together piece by piece, while thinking about what kind of person they want to be along the way. The player makes choices by selecting options, though the choices all lead to the same outcome and a common experience of the game.
